August 26 is National Dog Day. Started by self-styled “pet lifestyle expert”/interior designer Colleen Paige, National Dog Day is intended to raise awareness of all the ways in which dogs enrich our lives, and to get people to donate to shelters. The organizers’ website encourages people to host a variety of events to celebrate, including dog costume parties, adoption fairs, or buy things from their sponsors such as photo sessions, boutique items and treats. Hmmmmm … They also created National Puppy Day, National Mutt Day and National Pet Day. Sounds like a marketing machine over there. Oh, well. We’ll do our part. FunStuffForDogs.com offers a coupon code worth 20% off any purchase of $25 or more. Enter coupon code NATIONALDOGDAY during checkout.
I feel better already.

Good to know! I will definitely take advantage of that coupon code, and I am all about raising awareness for dogs in shelters. That is truly heartbreaking.

I think for the one’s wanting to have a new dog they should not buy one but get the same cute puppy at the shelter. Spread the love!

Wow. I didn’t even know there was such a day called National Dog Day! I just missed it. Anyway, every day for me is a day to honor dogs and puppies. I recently adopted a JRT puppy. I love dogs so much. They truly are man’s best friend. I’ll do almost anything to save a dog or puppy – cats are another story:)
But truly, dog is man’s best friend.

Give yourself a pat on the back! It’s great to know that we have a day to pay tribute to our best four legged friends.

A great day to take off work and hang out with your very best companion. Make sure you put on some type of dog clothing or dog apparel to celebrate. Your dog will love you even more. Who always watches your back?

Nice – National Dog Day. They deserve it! Dogs are awesome!
I’m going to have to mark this on my calendar and think of something special to do with my dog on that day.

Some dogs dance all day while their owners are away, this is why some dogs don’t want to go for a walk in the afternoon

Count me in on the 20% off coupon. I love shopping for my dog. If I can be a part of making others aware of our dogs’ issues, the better!

Here is a way that you can help shelter dogs while you get your dog the things he wants and needs. A dog supply store that donates 10% of every sale to animal causes that the customers choose.

National Dog Day, which has become an annual event, is celebrated across America on Friday. The holiday is observed in order to boost public awareness of animal cruelty, according to The Christian Post. It has officially gone International with 6 countries participating this year! It is a holiday that recognizes the dogs that work selflessly each day to save lives, keep us safe, and bring comfort.

On the other hand, if the evidence ultimately proves with equal clarity that 1 and 2 are true, you and many other posters on this thread will be shattered because your entire belief system will be threatened.
